What Is Batch Cooking?

Batch cooking lets you cook multiple copies of a recipe simultaneously instead of cooking one at a time. Each batch run produces multiple items but costs the same real-time as a single cook. This dramatically improves your XP per hour and Focus restoration per session.

Batch cooking is available on the Campfire, Standard Oven, and Deluxe Oven. It is not available from the basic cooking pot in the wild.

Get to Cooking Level 2 as fast as possible. Even ×2 batch cooking doubles your XP per cooking session. This makes the investment in leveling cooking pay back immediately.

Best Recipes to Batch Cook

The ideal batch recipe has: low ingredient cost, good XP, and high Focus restoration. Here's the best choice at each stage:

Batch Crafting (Non-Cooking)

Batch crafting applies to the Worktable and other crafting stations (not cooking). To batch craft:

  1. Open the crafting station menu
  2. Select the recipe you want to craft
  3. Use the quantity selector (up/down arrows or type a number) to set how many to craft
  4. Confirm — the station will queue and produce all copies automatically

Batch crafting at the Worktable gives XP for each item crafted, so crafting 10 Copper Bars gives 10× the XP of crafting one. Always batch craft when you have a stockpile of materials to process.

Optimal Batch Session Strategy

  1. Eat a Focus-boosting meal before cooking. If you're using the cooking session to also earn skill XP, use a previous Focus meal first.
  2. Set up the full batch before leaving. Queue the maximum batch size your level allows, then do other tasks while it cooks.
  3. Use the Deluxe Oven. It cooks faster than the Campfire and can run two simultaneous recipes. Unlock it at Cooking Level 6.
  4. Cook before every skill session. Always run a batch cook before fishing, mining, or hunting — the Focus boost from fresh food multiplies all XP gained.
  5. Keep ingredient chests nearby. Place your ingredient storage chest next to your oven. This makes it fast to refill and queue the next batch.

Batch Cooking and Focus

Each meal you cook restores Focus when eaten. Batch cooking means you stock up many Focus-restoring meals at once — a ×4 batch of Chapaa Steak gives you 4 meals totalling 1,400 Focus, enough to sustain maximum XP multiplier across a long play session. This is why batch cooking is the single most impactful thing you can do for your overall progression speed.

FAQ

Batch cooking unlocks progressively: x2 batches at Cooking Level 2, x3 at Level 5, and x4 at Level 8. Each upgrade lets you cook more items simultaneously per cooking session, dramatically improving XP per hour.
The best batch cooking choice depends on your level. At Level 1-3, Garden Salad and Mushroom Stew give good XP for low ingredient cost. At Level 5+, Tomato Pasta and Hotpot are most efficient. At Level 8+, batch cook Chapaa Steak for maximum XP and high sell value.
