Focus is a multiplier that increases skill XP earned from all activities. When your Focus bar is full you earn 2× XP from fishing, gardening, cooking, mining, and all other skills. Focus is built by eating cooked meals — higher-quality and more complex recipes restore more Focus. Renown is Palia's prestige currency earned by completing quests, levelling skills, reaching friendship milestones with villagers, and participating in community activities. It is spent at the Renown Shop in Kilima Village on cosmetics, housing items, and quality-of-life upgrades. Yes — Palia supports full cross-play across all platforms. A PC player and a Nintendo Switch player can join the same server, visit each other's housing plots, and cooperate on any activity together. To add a cross-platform friend, share your Palia username (not your platform ID) and add them through the in-game friends menu.

Housing plots are unlocked by completing the early introductory quests — specifically by talking to Eshe in Kilima Village. She will guide you through the process of claiming your first plot in the housing area. Once claimed, you can build, decorate, and expand your home.
