Pickaxe Upgrades
Your pickaxe determines how many strikes each node requires and whether you can mine higher-tier ores efficiently. Upgrade via Hodari's questline — each tier is unlocked by reaching the corresponding Mining level.
| Pickaxe | Unlock | Strike Bonus | Effectively Mines |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard Pickaxe | Default | — | Copper, Iron (slowly) |
| Sturdy Pickaxe | Mining Lv. 2 | +20% damage | Copper & Iron efficiently |
| Fine Pickaxe | Mining Lv. 4 | +40% damage | All common ores; Silver & Gold efficiently; Palium (slowly) |
| Exquisite Pickaxe | Mining Lv. 7 | +60% damage | All ores efficiently; improved gem drop rate |
| Masterwork Pickaxe | Mining Lv. 9 (Palium Bar required) | Max damage, +gem chance | All ores, fastest break speed, best gem rates |
Palium is community ore. Unlike all other ores, Palium nodes do not deplete faster when multiple players mine them simultaneously. If you find a Palium node, share the location in chat — other players can mine the same node without reducing your yield.
Sell Price Comparison: Raw vs Processed
Smelting ore into bars at the Smelter always yields a significant profit over selling raw. The table shows the multiplier per ore unit — queue your Smelter before logging off every session.
| Ore | Raw Ore 💰 | Processed Bar 💰 | Value Added | Multiplier |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Copper | 🪙 5g | 🪙 25g | +20g | ×5.0 ⭐ |
| Iron | 🪙 12g | 🪙 48g | +36g | ×4.0 |
| Silver | 🪙 22g | 🪙 85g | +63g | ×3.9 |
| Gold | 🪙 42g | 🪙 135g | +93g | ×3.2 |
| Palium | 🪙 58g | 🪙 225g | +167g | ×3.9 |
Copper has the best multiplier (×5). Even late game when you have Palium, never sell raw Copper — smelt it. The ratio is better than every other ore in the game, and early-game Copper nodes are fast to clear.
Crafting Uses by Bar Type
Each bar tier unlocks a distinct group of recipes. Knowing what each bar makes helps you prioritise smelting and prevents you from accidentally selling bars you still need.
| Bar | Key Recipes | Recommended Stockpile |
|---|---|---|
| Copper Bar | Basic Storage Chest, Campfire upgrades, Standard Pickaxe, early furniture frames | 20–30 bars — burns fast in early game |
| Iron Bar | Standard Storage Chest, Medium Bag, Standard Oven, Small & Medium housing extensions, Fine Pickaxe, Large Bag | 40–60 bars — most demanded mid-game material |
| Silver Bar | Advanced Worktable, decorative jewelry, premium furniture accents | 15–20 bars — less volume but critical for upgrades |
| Gold Bar | Deluxe furniture frames, cosmetic crafting recipes, gift-tier decorations | 10–15 bars — Gold is rare; sell only surplus |
| Palium Bar | Deluxe Storage Chest, Deluxe Bag, Deluxe Oven, Masterwork Pickaxe, Deluxe housing extensions | 25–40 bars — hold everything until Deluxe upgrades ready; sell nothing |
| Flow-Infused Stone | Ruins quest items (Beneath the Ruins), Majiri-themed décor blueprints, Jina's late questline steps | Keep all — not purchaseable, quest-gated |
Best Mining Routes
These routes are optimised for node density — hitting the most nodes per minute of travel. Complete the full loop then switch to another activity while nodes respawn.
🌿 Kilima Valley — Beginner Route (Copper + Iron · Lv. 1–2)
Dense Copper nodes, scattered Iron. Loop time ~10 min. Respawn: 1 in-game day.
- Start at the Kilima Quarry north of Mirror Pond — 3–5 Copper nodes on the cliff face
- Head east along the Whispering Banks ridge — 2 Iron and 2–3 Copper on the rocky slope
- Continue south to the Fisherman's Lagoon cliffs — 2 Iron nodes on the eastern wall
- Swing west through the Ancient Ruins (Kilima) — scattered Copper and occasional Heartstone Gem
- Return north past the Harvest Highlands path entry — 1–2 Iron nodes near the gate
- Smelt everything at your homeplot Smelter before the next loop
🌊 Bahari Bay — Mid Route (Iron + Silver + Gold · Lv. 3–4)
Best route for mid-game bars. Iron nodes drop double ore here. Loop time ~15 min. Respawn: 1–1.5 in-game days.
- Start at Windy Ruins — enter the cave system below; 2–3 Silver and 4–6 Iron nodes inside
- Exit north and follow the Bahari Cliffs west — 2 Iron, 1 Silver on the cliff ledges
- Drop to Pulsewater Plains — 1–2 Gold nodes near the ancient stone formations
- Head southeast to Dragon's Teeth — 1 Gold and 1–2 Sapphire nodes in the rock spires
- Circle back through Beachcomber Cove interior cave — 2–3 Silver nodes at the back wall
- Return to your plot or a nearby Smelter to process
🏔️ Royal Highlands — Late Route (Palium + Flow-Infused · Lv. 5–6)
Palium nodes are scarce and server-shared — speed matters. Loop time ~20 min. Palium respawn: 2 in-game days.
- Start at the Thornwall Range eastern ridgeline — 2–3 Palium nodes on exposed cliff faces; check the highest elevations first
- Head south along the Thornwall spine — 1–2 more Palium and occasional Flow-Infused Quartz
- Descend into the Royal Ruins cavern entrance — 1–2 Palium nodes near the first chamber
- Continue into the deep cavern (unlocked after main quest step 4) — Flow-Infused Stone and Prismatic Crystal nodes
- Exit and check Crown Citadel base boulders — 1–2 Flow-Infused Stone
- If all Palium nodes are taken, switch to Crown Lake fishing for the 2-day respawn wait
Run the Palium route early in the morning (06:00–09:00 in-game) for the best node availability before other players arrive. If nodes are already stripped, note the time and return after exactly 2 in-game days.
