Palia Tools Guide 2026

Every tool's full upgrade path from Makeshift to Exquisite — materials needed, what each tier unlocks, and exactly which upgrade to prioritise first.

🕐 Updated: June 5, 2026 🔧 6 tool types ⬆️ 4 upgrade tiers ⛏️ Pickaxe = upgrade first

💡 Pro Tips

  • The Standard Pickaxe is the most important first upgrade — it unlocks Iron Ore, which is the material for every subsequent Fine-tier tool
  • Fine Pickaxe is required to mine Palium Ore — no Fine Pickaxe means no Palium Bars, which blocks all Exquisite upgrades
  • Upgrade your Bow to Fine Arrow quality — hunting efficiency roughly doubles with the higher damage output
  • Stock up on Copper Bars and Iron Bars before starting any upgrade session — running out mid-crafting wastes a trip

🏆 Which Tool to Upgrade First?

1

⛏️ Standard Pickaxe

Unlocks Iron Ore — the foundational material for every Fine-tier tool upgrade in the game. Nothing else in the upgrade chain is possible without Iron Bars, so this comes before everything.

Unlocks Iron Ore → all Fine tools
2

⛏️ Fine Pickaxe

Unlocks Palium Ore — the material for all Exquisite-tier upgrades, the Exquisite Chest, and key late-game recipes. Every hour spent without Fine Pickaxe is an hour without Palium income.

Unlocks Palium → all Exquisite tools
3

🎣 Fine Fishing Rod

The reel speed improvement at the Fine tier is substantial and immediately noticeable. Fishing is one of the best steady Gold sources — faster reeling means meaningfully higher hourly income.

Noticeably faster reel → more Gold/hr
4

🪣 Exquisite Watering Can

Watering 9 tiles at once versus 1 is a transformative time save for active farmers. At Exquisite level you can water an entire standard plot section in a single action.

9-tile watering = massive time save
5

🦋 Fine Bug Catching Net

The larger catch radius at Fine tier makes a real difference when going after rare and skittish species. You'll land catches that would have escaped a Makeshift or Standard net.

Bigger radius = rare bugs caught
