💰 Passive income ~9,500 Gold/day

The strongest late-game gold setup. Eight surrounding plots of Tomato/Potato passively provide Water Retain and Quality Boost to the central Apple Tree.

⚠️ Macro view: each cell = 1 plot (9 squares). Apple Tree occupies the full center 3×3 plot.

💡 Pro Tips

  • Tomato and Potato both provide Water Retain — alternate them across the plot to eliminate all daily watering
  • Carrot and Onion both provide Weed Prevention — one in each corner covers the whole plot and stops all weed growth
  • Apple Tree occupies a full 3×3 plot (9 squares) and requires Farming Level 10 or Badruu's Vault to unlock
  • Bok Choy's Speed Grow buff cuts growth time by 25% — pair it with fast crops like Carrot and Onion to double harvest frequency

Farming Limits

🟫

9

Maximum soil plots — you can place up to 9 garden plots on your homestead.

🌱

81

Total plantable slots — 9 plots × 9 squares each = 81 grid squares max.

💧

1 Day

Water Retain max duration — unwatered crops lose moisture after 1 in-game day (unless adjacent to a Water Retain provider).

Crop Synergy Buffs

Each crop provides a synergy buff to its four orthogonal neighbors (up/down/left/right). Stack buffs strategically to automate your entire farm.

Fertilizer Guide

Fertilizer is applied to garden plots before planting. There are two types, each with a different effect. Fertilizer only works on crops marked ✓ Yes in the table — applying it to incompatible crops has no effect and wastes the fertilizer.

⚗️ Quality Fertilizer

Increases the chance of harvesting star-quality crops. Star-quality items sell for roughly ×1.5 the base price and give better friendship XP when gifted. Best used on high-value crops like Watermelon, Spooky Squash, and Strawberry.

  • Crafted at the Worktable
  • Ingredients: Compost × 3, Bat Wing × 1
  • Use on: Watermelon, Blueberry, Strawberry

⏱️ Speed Fertilizer

Reduces crop grow time by approximately 25%. Best value on slow crops with high yield — knocking 2 days off a 9-day Watermelon cycle meaningfully increases how many harvests you get per season.

  • Crafted at the Worktable
  • Ingredients: Compost × 2, Fleece × 1
  • Use on: Watermelon, Apple, Corn, Pumpkin
💡

Fertilizer stacks with watering. Watering your crops every day speeds up growth on its own. Using Speed Fertilizer and daily watering together produces the fastest possible harvest — essential for multi-harvest crops like Corn or Blueberry for maximum weekly income.

Growing Tips

  • Prioritise multi-harvest crops. Corn, Blueberry, Strawberry, and Apple don't need replanting after the initial grow — they keep producing on a shorter cycle. Over a full season they generate far more gold than single-harvest alternatives of similar price.
  • Keep Spice Sprout rows running at all times. It's the most widely required cooking ingredient in the game and grows in just 2 days. Dedicate at least 1–2 rows to it permanently regardless of the season.
  • Rotate seasonal crops at season change. Seeds planted out of season will not grow and will wither. Always check the in-game season before planting and use the last 2 days of a season to harvest rather than replant.
  • Wheat and Rice are ingredient multipliers. Neither sells for much per crop, but both have high yield (4–8 Wheat per harvest) and are required in bulk for cooking and crafting.
  • Flower crops are gift items, not gold sources. Springbell Flower, Sunflower, and Snowbell Flower have low yields and cannot use fertilizer. Grow them specifically for villager gifts.
  • Special seeds are non-renewable — plan harvests carefully. Star Flower and Flow Blossom seeds cannot be purchased. Apply Quality Fertilizer to maximise star-quality yield.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I build a fully automatic farm in Palia?

Use Layout A from the top of this page: place Carrots in the 4 corners and 4 edge positions, Potato in the center of each 3×3 plot, and Tomatoes cross-filling the remaining slots. This ensures every cell receives both Water Retain (no watering) and Weed Prevention (no weeding) from adjacent crops. Replicate across all 9 plots for a completely passive farm.

What is the most profitable crop in Palia?

It depends on your Farming level:

  • Level 10+: Apple Tree (~9,500g/day with auto-water setup)
  • Level 6+: Blueberry Bush (Guild Tokens, 4× harvest cycles)
  • Any level: Spooky Squash (65g, Fall) or Watermelon (58g, Summer) for single-harvest gold
  • Multi-harvest (any level): Corn (Summer) and Strawberry (Spring) over a full season
Does fertilizer affect all crops?

No — fertilizer only works on crops marked ✓ Yes in the Fertilizer column. Flower crops and foraged seeds do not respond to fertilizer. Use Quality Fertilizer on high-value crops for star-quality gifting or selling. Use Speed Fertilizer on slow-growing crops (Watermelon, Apple, Pumpkin) to squeeze more harvest cycles per season.

Where do I buy crop seeds in Palia?
  • Badruu's Shop — core crops: Tomato, Potato, Wheat, Carrot, Corn, Blueberry, Watermelon, Pumpkin, Apple
  • Zeki's Store — rotating stock: Strawberry, Hot Pepper, Sunflower, Frostroot, Spooky Squash
  • Foraging — Mushroom spores, Autumn Clover, Brightclover (winter)
  • Special — Snowbell Flower (winter event), Star Flower (quest reward), Flow Blossom (Majiri ruins drop)
What are multi-harvest crops and which are best?

Multi-harvest crops (marked ↺) regrow after harvest without replanting. Regrow cycles are faster than the initial grow time:

  • Blueberry — 8 days first, then every 3 days → best spring multi-harvest
  • Strawberry — 6 days first, then every 4 days → good spring income
  • Corn — 7 days first, then every 4 days → best summer multi-harvest
  • Apple — 14 days first, then every 5 days → slow to start but strong fall income (3–6 yield)

Plant multi-harvest crops early in the season to maximise regrow cycles before season end.
