Palia Hunting Guide

Hunt animals across Kilima Valley and Bahari Bay for meat, pelts, and rare drops used in crafting and cooking.

3 animal typesMax Level: 10Key NPC: Hassian

Hunting Basics

Hunting uses your bow and arrow. Approach animals carefully — making noise or getting too close will startle them and they'll run. Aim for the head or body. A clean headshot kills instantly and rewards bonus materials, while body shots require follow-up arrows.

Animals respawn on a fixed timer (roughly every in-game day), and certain rare animals only spawn in specific weather or at specific times.

Bow Upgrades

Your bow can be upgraded through the Hunting skill tree and with materials from Subira the blacksmith. Higher-tier bows have better accuracy, longer range, and deal more damage so animals don't escape.

Arrow Types

  • Standard Arrow — default, cheap to craft
  • Makeshift Arrow — crafted from wood, very low cost
  • Smoke Arrow — doesn't startle nearby animals, useful for multi-kill runs
  • Heavy Arrow — high damage, ensures one-shot on Sernuk

Hunting Tips

  • Approach slowly. Sprinting scares animals. Walk slowly, especially when approaching Sernuk and Muujin.
  • Aim for the head. Headshots kill in one hit and give bonus materials. Body shots work but require a follow-up.
  • Hunt with Hassian. Raising Hassian's friendship gives you Spiced Roast recipe and reveals Muujin locations.
  • Sell Chapaa Filets. Chapaa filets (especially ★ quality) sell well and are also used in high-value recipes.
  • Muujin at night. The rare Muujin only appears at night along the Bahari Bay cliffs. Bring your best arrows.
