The Character Creator
When you start Palia for the first time, you'll go through the character creator before entering the world. Palia's creator is intentionally open and inclusive — there are no gender-locked options, and all combinations of body type, face, and hair are available regardless of your choices.
Body & Shape
- Body type slider (ranging from lean to fuller builds)
- Height adjustment
- Skin tone — wide range from very fair to very deep, including undertone adjustments
Face Options
- Face shape presets with individual slider adjustments
- Eye shape, size, and colour
- Eyebrow shape, thickness, and colour
- Nose and lip shape options
- Freckles, beauty marks, and skin details
- Facial hair (available to all body types)
Hair
- Dozens of hairstyles from short to long, coily to straight
- Hair colour — solid colours and dual-tone options
- Hair highlights and gradient styles
Changing Your Appearance Later
You're never locked into your creation choices. To change your appearance after the initial setup:
- Place a Mirror furniture item on your homeplot (crafted from Glass + Wood)
- Interact with the Mirror to reopen the appearance editor
- Adjust face, hair, skin, and makeup freely
- Body type and height can also be changed via the Mirror
Changing your in-game character name costs a small amount of gold and can be done via the in-game settings menu. Your S6 account username is separate from your in-game display name.
The Wardrobe System
Your character's clothing is managed through the Wardrobe, accessible from the character menu. Outfits are separate from your appearance — you can change clothes at any time without visiting any NPC.
Getting Outfits
- Tamala's Shop — the primary source of craftable and purchasable outfits. Unlock more options by raising friendship with Tamala.
- Palia Store — exclusive cosmetic outfits purchased with Palia Coins (real money). These are purely cosmetic.
- Quest rewards — some story and friendship quests reward unique clothing items
- Seasonal events — limited-time outfits available during events
- Gift code rewards — some gift codes include cosmetic items
Dye System
Many clothing items can be recoloured using dyes. Dyes are purchased from Tamala's shop and applied through the Wardrobe menu. Higher friendship with Tamala unlocks rare dye colours not available in the base shop.
Accessories & Cosmetics
- Gloves, hats, glasses, and earrings are all independent slots
- Tool cosmetics — some event rewards include cosmetic tool skins (reskins your fishing rod, pickaxe, etc. visually)
- Pets — companion animals that follow you around; available from the Palia Store and occasional events
- Emote unlocks — new animations available through quest rewards and the Palia Store
