All Questions
Is Palia free to play?
Yes. Palia is completely free to download and play on all platforms — PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. There are no subscriptions, no upfront costs, and no pay-to-win mechanics.
The only paid content is optional cosmetics in the Premium Store — clothing, tool skins, emotes, and pets — which have zero effect on gameplay or progression.
What platforms is Palia available on?
Palia is available on:
- PC — Steam and Epic Games Store (free)
- Nintendo Switch — Nintendo eShop (free)
- PlayStation 5 — PlayStation Store (free)
- Xbox Series X|S — Microsoft Store (free)
There is currently no mobile (iOS/Android) version. All platforms support full cross-play. See the Download guide for installation instructions per platform.
What time does Palia reset each day?
The Palia daily reset happens at 4:00 AM UTC every day. This resets:
- Daily tasks and activity counters
- Vendor stock at shops
- Weekly Wants for villagers (on weekly reset)
- Certain time-limited gathering nodes
Visit the Daily Reset page for a live countdown clock that converts 4:00 AM UTC into your local time.
How do you redeem Palia gift codes?
Codes are redeemed on the website — there is no in-game redeem menu.
- Go to palia.com and log in
- Click your avatar or account name (top right)
- Select Account Settings
- Scroll to Redeem a Code, enter your code, and click Submit
- Log into Palia — the reward will be in your in-game mailbox
See the Gift Codes page for all currently active codes.
How do you buy Palia Coins?
Two ways to purchase Palia Coins in-game:
- Press P → click the gold Coins icon at the top of the menu → click +
- Visit Jel's tailor shop in Kilima Village and interact with the counter
Coins come in six bundles from $4.99 (425 Coins) to $99.99 (11,000 Coins). They can only be spent on cosmetic items. See the Palia Coins guide for the full price breakdown and what Coins can buy.
Does Palia have cross-play between platforms?
Yes. Palia supports full cross-play between all platforms:
- PC (Steam) ↔ PC (Epic) ↔ Nintendo Switch ↔ PlayStation 5 ↔ Xbox Series X|S
All players share the same servers and can see, interact with, and play alongside players on any other platform. Your account and progress are also shared across platforms (cross-save). See the Cross-Platform guide for details.
What do villagers like as gifts?
Every villager has four tiers of gift preference:
- Loved — +30 friendship XP (best to give)
- Liked — +15 friendship XP
- Neutral — +1 friendship XP
- Disliked — −15 friendship XP (avoid)
You can give each villager 2 gifts per week. On a villager's birthday, gifts give triple XP. See the Villager Gift Guide for loved gifts for every character, or visit individual villager pages from All Villagers.
How does the Focus system work?
Focus is a multiplier that doubles all skill XP earned while active. When your Focus bar is full, every skill action (casting a line, mining a node, harvesting crops) gives twice the XP.
Focus is restored by eating cooked meals — higher quality recipes restore more Focus. As you earn skill XP, the Focus bar depletes. Always cook and eat before grinding skills. See the Focus System guide for the best Focus meals at each cooking level.
Is Palia pay-to-win?
No. Every item sold for Palia Coins is purely cosmetic:
- Clothing and outfit sets
- Tool visual skins (fishing rod, pickaxe, etc.)
- Emotes and animations
- Homeplot landscape themes
- Companion pets
No gameplay advantages, stat boosts, resource multipliers, or story content are locked behind Palia Coins. All game content is accessible to free players.
How do you get your own house in Palia?
Your homeplot is given to you automatically through the main story — no gold purchase required. Shortly after completing the initial tutorial quests, Tish will help you set up your first house on a free plot.
The plot is yours permanently with no recurring costs. You can expand and decorate it using in-game crafted furniture, gold-purchased items, or Palia Coins cosmetics. See the Housing & Plots guide for what you can do with your homeplot.
